FAQs

  • Do you meet the safety standards to design and build playgrounds and play parks safely?

Yes, we do meet and exceed the relevant British safety standards to design and build playgrounds and other outdoor play areas. The relevant British Standards are: BS EN 636, part 3 and BS4079 (Plywood), BS5268 (Timber), BS5589 (Preservative), BS EN 1176 ( Equipment Standards).

  • Why should I choose timber play equipment?

There are several factors that show why timber is an ideal material to use when designing a school playground:

Durability: Timber is an extremely durable material and can be long lasting, making it ideal for outdoor play equipment. This can mean you avoid issues such as rust or corrosion, which also makes it safer for the children using it.

Low Maintenance: A play structure made from timber requires far less maintenance than metallic materials, which need maintaining to prevent rusting.

Aesthetics: Timber blends into an outdoor space much more naturally than other materials such as metal. A timber playground that seamlessly blends into its natural surroundings will be appreciated much more by all who use it.

  • How do you integrate learning into school playgrounds?

Younger Play integrates learning into our playground designs through playground markings. There are endless ways you can add creativity to a play space, from hop-scotch, to more complex markings like snakes and ladders.

  • How do you design a playground that is more inclusive and social?

There are many ways to make a playground inclusive to everyone using it. One way is to design swing sets to be paired up together to allow for social interaction between people using the swings. As well as this, you could add features to the play space that accommodate multiple people such as merry go rounds.
